Golfers at Stanthorpe played a 4BBB stableford on Saturday 20 April, the day sponsored by club members, John Green and Brendan McMillam and we thank them for the day. Not quite a capacity field as the possibility of some showers during the afternoon may have dampened the enthusiasm of some. Thankfully, no adverse weather arrived although the day was quite cool.
A close finish in the end with one point separating the leaders. Brad Silver and Filomena Silver had the best score of the day, 45 points for first place. On 44 points was the team of Matt Waterworth and Rino Piovesan who settled for runner up.
Down the line prize for Eric Ree and Tom Page with the next best score of 43 points and at the other end Greg Carey and Maria Carey received the encouragement award for braving the cold weather on the day,
Pin shots were shared around with ladies’ pins won by Lisa Stuart at 3, Lorraine Evans at 12 and Mei Bell at 17. Filomena Silver had the best approach at the ladies’ hole 2/11 and Helen Jones collected the final prize for her approach at 7/16.
Darrell Boekholt collected NTPs at 3 and 17, Richard Reardon held the other at 12. Pro-pins went to Keith Jones at 1/10, Matt Burgess at 5/14 and Brad Silver at 9/18.
The time sheets for the long weekend in May are filling and intending players are urged to get their names and teams on the list while still time. Usually there is a fair number of players from Kilcoy GC and also visitors from other clubs attend. Players are reminded also that the Mobile Golf Shop will be here for that weekend, a chance to stock up on any golf supplies.
Sunday Sporters golf was a washout with only a couple of brave souls taking to the fairways.
Next Saturday 27 April is another 4BBB stableford with sponsor being the RSL Sub-Branch. Being a 4ball, competition for the day will start with a shot gun start at 12 noon with registration by 11.30 am. As usual, look for the time sheet online.
