Australia Day competition was a stableford event sponsored by Andersens Carpet, courtesy of Gary Kirby. Appreciation to Gary for putting on the prizes for the winners as well as the extra side features of the day.
Nathan Stibbard returned to the winners circle with a score of 41 points. A great score considering there is not a lot of run on the course. In second place was Len Leigh on 39 points, runner up for the second time in as many events.
The ladies event was won by Neta Thouard on 32 points and she was very pleased to accept the floor rug which she had been admiring. Lisa Stuart was again in the front line, her 31 points good enough for runner up.
Steve and Mei Bell were resplendent in their themed Australia Day outfits and were clear recipients of the best dressed team for the day. Best dressed buggy seen on the day was from Stephen Kay. Info says that Sandy may have been the brains behind the scene.
The final special prize, the ‘C’mon Aussie, C’mon’ award went to Shaneen McLellan. Shaneen has had a summer lay off from competition and good to see her back on the course. Special mention also for Filomena Silver who has recently obtained her official ALGU handicap and played her first competition game on the day.
Pin shots went to David Reeves at 3, Aaron Simmers at 12 and Chris Binge at 17. Ladies pins went to Mei Bell, 3 and 17, and Margie Locke at 12. Pro-pins won by Davis Burgess at 1/10, Rob Reeves at 5/14 and Stephen Kay at 9/18.
Men’s run down claimed by Brad Silver, Davis Burgess, Travis Burton and Lyle Bryant. Ladies run down for Margie Locke.
Thanks to all players and the sponsors for the day.
