Last Saturday’s competition was a medley 4BBB stableford, the David Townsend Memorial Day, sponsored by RSL golf. A good field turned out for the day and included invited members and guests of the Townsend family. Special thanks to Jenny Sherrin for presenting the prizes for the day. Also to Viv Thouard as the RSL representative who gave members an insight as to how the RSL support and sponsor golf at Stanthorpe.
Playing early in the day proved successful for the team of Margie Locke and Terry Roser who returned a score of 45 points for the day to win the day. Terry was the mainstay of the team and Margies imput insured the points were intact. Darryl Boekholt combined with Kev Rowling to secure runner place with 44 points, only after the countback with Davis Burgess and Matt Burgess put them in the run down place.
Barry Hughes collected the men’s pin shots at both 3 and 12. Scott Constable had closest tee shot at 17. Trish Fittock was successful in claiming both ladies’ approaches at 12 and 17. Pro-pins were won by Darryl Boekholt at 1/10, Ivan Juriss at 5/14 and Richard Reardon at 9/18. Eric McLellan won the birdies nest at 8.
In the run down, a ball to scores of 43 and better, a total of ten players.
The World Handicap System will be introduced to all Australian golf clubs next weekend and members might notice some small changes in their handicaps. Posters have been on display at the club for a number of weeks and they explain changes that are being made.
Next Saturday is the February monthly medal and putting competition sponsored by Dixon Homes – Wes Smith. Tee off from 11.30 am. and the time sheet is on the board.
