There was plenty of golf at Stanthorpe last weekend with competitions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Friday was the Builder’s golf day, a three person ambrose event, the day being organised out of Howard Trade Centre and Chris and his team are to congratulated for their organisation of the day and creating so much interest among the players.
There were some very good golfers on show, none better than Chris Fittock, Cameron Turner and Codey Leotta with the best score of 66 on the day which included six birdies, the rest pars for their round. In the nett event, Gary Kirby, Chris Binge and Rob Thompson posted the best round to take that event.
With pin shots and long drive prizes also on offer, the final team event was the NAGA encouragement award which went to Keegan Smith, Andrew Quirk and Dylan who found the going a bit tough although they appeared to be very pleased with the mention. Plenty of happy people at the end of the day after the multi-draw raffle, departing with some wonderful prizes on offer.
Saturday’s event was the club’s monthly medal and putting competition with the winners qualifying for the Medal of Medallists later in the year. Sponsor for the day was Beckett’s Pest Control and the club thanks Tod for the prizes on the day.
The men’s event needed the countback which favoured Max Hunter for the win and Jacob Steele to enjoy the runner up prize. Both players returned a nett 72.
Best gross score was from Scott Constable with 75 and Santo Cavallaro had the best of the putting with only 25 putts for the round.
The ladies’ medal event was won by Christine Hood with a nett 73. Christine also had the best gross score for the ladies. Runner up went to Jennifer Sparkes with a nett 76. Jennifer also had the least number of putts, 30 for the round and also collected the 17th pin shot.
Other pin shots were won by Keith Allen at 3, Cal Smith at 12 and Aaron Simmers at 17. Nikki Waterworth held the remaining ladies pin at 12. Pro-pins went to David Reeves at 1/10, Max Hunter at 5/14 and Richard Reardon at 9/18.
Sunday was Sporters golf, a 2 person ambrose for the Maureen Bates Memorial golf day sponsored by Rex Bates. A good turn out with the day being won by Matt and Nikki Waterworth by a small margin. Thanks to Rex for the day and the raffle.
Next Saturday is a stroke round, the second of three rounds for the Pike Trophy. Sponsors for the day are Stephen and Sandy Kay. The time sheet for the day is on the board at the club.
