Last Saturday’s golf at Stanthorpe was an individual stableford event with the men’s event sponsored by club member, Marie Cook, and the ladies’ event sponsored by Mandy Benussi and Lyn Ludlow. The club thanks all the sponsors of the days competition.

Matt Waterworth had a very good round in which he returned a gross score of 71, one under course par, which produced 39 points to win the men’s section. Matt’s round included four birdies during the round. Good to see Matt back in the form that we know he is capable of. In second place with 37 points was Lyle Bryant who has been practising diligently on web sites to improve his game. We think he might have found one that works for him.

Helen Jones had another good round to win the ladies’ section after returning 32 points. Lisa Stuart had the best of a countback to claim runner up for the ladies with 31 points. Lyn Ludlow, also on 31 points, featured in the run down.

In minor events, David Reeves collected the pin shot at 3, the pro-pin at 1/10 and a ball in the run down. Barry Hughes collected the pin at 12, a birdie included, and Matt Waterworth held the pin at 17. Other pro-pins went to Ian Harvey at 5/14 and Scott Constable at 9/18. Ladies’ pin shots went to Lisa Stuart at 12 and Helen Jones at 17.

Birdies nest at 13 was shared by Scott Constable and Mick O’Brien. Others in the run down included Ivan Juriss (36), Jacob Steele (35) and David Reeves (34) in the men’s division and Marie Cook in the ladies division.

The ladies have been playing match play events of late and two matches were decided during the day’s play. Nikki Waterworth and Lorraine Evans had to go to the 19th hole before Nikki was successful, 1 up over Lorraine. In the other match, Linda Kelly was successful over Lyn Ludlow.

The foursomes championships for both men and ladies will be played this Sunday, 27 holes of alternate shots. Play will commence at 9.00 am after Sporters have hit off. Players who have already arranged a partner are requested to enter names on the time sheet. Players who have not arranged a partner but are interested in playing should write their names on the time sheet, hopefully others might join them.

Next Saturday is an individual stroke event, the day sponsored by the Newley family. The time sheet is also on display at the club. Tee off from the usual time of 11.00 am.
