Stanthorpe Golf Report Saturday 31st May 2025

After a big month of golf including the 4 rounds of the Club Championships it was an interesting change to play a different type of game devised by our sponsors for the day Brendon Barker and Jason Bacon. On a cold and windy difficult day, the front 9 was played as a normal 3 ball ambrose and the back 9 was played as an alternate shot between the 3-person team. As could be expected the front 9 produced some great scores but teams were really tested on the back 9. The front 9 ambrose was won by the team of Ivan Juriss, Wes Smith and Lorraine Evans with a great nett score of 30.3. This was closely followed by Ian Henderson, Greg Fraser and Trish Fittock with an equally impressive nett score of 30.5. Scores were quite different on the back 9 with winning team of Fil Silver, Richard Readon and Brad Silver returning a nett score of 42.6. Coming in second place for the back 9 were Ron Batterham, Scott Constable and Barry Jones.

Men’s pin shots went to Wes Smith on 3 and Scott Constable on 12. Approach shots were won by Barry Jones (1/10), Rick Goodrich (2) and Rod Paye (5/14). Men’s long drive was won by Brendon Barker with a monster on the 9th and birdies on the 3rd went to Alan Walker, Jason Bacon and Lorraine Evans. Ladies pin shots were won by Lisa Stuart won the pin shot on the 2/11 hole and the long drive on the 9th.
