Stanthorpe Golf Report 14 June 2025.

What a beautiful day for Golf in Stanthorpe. It was a crisp and fresh morning, the clouds cleared, the warmth of the winter sun gave this Writer a new word, ‘apricity.’ And the jumpers came off and a delightful round of golf was played by all, except two. More later.

The Club is grateful for the sponsorship of Andersen’s Carpets. Gary Kirby and his team at Andersen’s Carpets put together some excellent prizes and these were won by equally excellent Golfers.

Ladies: Congratulations to Nikki Waterworth, Neta Thouard, Lorraine Evans and Trish Fitock. Hole prizes to Deb Joyce and Lorraine Evans and the Nearest the Pin shots went to Helen Jones, Lisa Stuart and Trish Fittock.

Mens: Congratulations to Ivan Juris who came home with 40 Stableford points off a low handicap.

Locals will often see Ivan practising after work and the win was hard earned and well deserved. However, Ivan only just scraped in as Peter Moll was hot on his heals with 39 points off a low handicap. Third place went to Eric Ree. Hole prizes went to Wesley Smith, Darrell Boekholt and Matt Waterworth and the Nearest the Pin to Phil Hawtin, Rod Paye and Barry Jones.

All in all, well done to a good field of Golfers with the exception of two. And they were ... pathetic.

Fortunately, Andersen’s Carpets provided a prize for the person who came last. The prize for dead last was shared between the men and the ladies. The irony was that it was the Ladies Captain (nameless) and the men’s Vice Captain (currently the Acting Captain) who is also the Writer of this Golf Report (also nameless). However, the news of this humiliation seemed to add a certain sort of pleasure and laughter for those in the Club House at the presentation.

present to claim it) will be $210.
