Play for the Foundation Cups was finalised last Saturday with the men’s Cup being awarded to Barry Jones and the ladies’ cup to Neta Thouard. Both Barry and Neta went into the second round with a slight advantage, both players winning their divisions last Saturday. Both were able to maintain their position and earn the right to have their names engraved on the Cups for 2021.

The single stroke round on the day was sponsored by Australian Vinegar, Ian Henderson and we thank him for the day, the presentation of a ball for each player and presenting the trophies at the completion of play.

Barry Jones added to his Cup win by also winning the men’s stroke event with nett 66 to add to his previous win a week ago. Two good rounds from Barry and he attributed the victories by following some good advice, keep the ball straight and on the fairway. It certainly worked.

Runner up went to Eric McLellan with nett 70. Eric came close to runner up last week, just missed out by the count back but he did one better this week. In the run down, a prize each to scores of nett 74 and better.

The ladies event was won by Margie Locke, her nett 80 was one shot better than ladies’ Cup winner, Neta Thouard. Both Margie and Neta had front nines which they would rather forget but managed to right the ship and have much better back nines. Ladies’ run down went to Nikki Waterworth with nett 82 and Lorraine Evans with nett 86.

Next Saturday, an individual stableford is on the programme with the day being sponsored by club president, Len Leigh. Tee off from 11.30 am and the time sheet is on the board at the club house.
