Stanthorpe golfers played a single stableford on Saturday 9 December, the day sponsored by Aqua Rural Supplies and the club thanks them for again sponsoring this golf day at the club. A good field of almost 50 players turned out for the day’s competition which ended with some close results at the finish.
Leading the way in the ladies’ event was Neta Thouard who is coming back into form after some injury issues. Not only did Neta win the event with a just under par score of 37 points, along the way she won the ladies’ approach at hole 1 and collected the NTP at hole 12. Nikki Waterworth played her usual steady game to finish in second place on 34 points as well as collecting the pin shot at hole 17.
Down the line players in the presentation were Lisa Stuart with 30 points and Linda Kelly with 28 points.
The men’s event resulted in a back to the winners win by David Burgess on 38 points. Very close result in the end with runner up Keith Jones on 37 points just edging out Tod Beckett on the same score but settling for down the line honours. Also in the main group of finishers was Matt Burgess with 36 points.
Pro-pin winners included Hamish Adam at 1/10, Mick O’Brien at 5/14 and Ivan Juriss at 9/18. NTP’s went to Dave Burgess at 3, Alan Kerr at 12 and Michael Thompson at 17.
One highlight of the day was the recording of an eagle, two under the hole par, by Nathan Stibbard who managed to do this at the par 5 hole No. 11. Not too sure if on he was on for two and a good putt or a chip in for the three, either way a great result.
Next Saturday 16 December is a single stroke event with sponsors being Fiona Kelly and Mark Baker. Time sheet is available on-line.
