Another end of month event played at Stanthorpe golf last Saturday, a medley 4BBB stableford event. Thanks to our sponsors of the day, Ron and Annelle Batterham for the trophies on the day. Sausage sizzle was back in action and was greatly appreciated at half time, getting some warm food into the body.

Winning score of the day was 46 points returned by the team of Rino Piovesan and Matt Burgess. Reno held the team together on the front nine leading the scoring in seven of the nine holes for 22 points. On the back nine, Matt took over scoring on eight of the nine holes where 24 points were added to the total.

For the mixed teams, Brad Silver and Mei Bell combined to return a score of 45 points. Similar to the men’s winning team, each player seemed to dominate on each of the nine holes. On the front nine, Brad led the way doing most of the scoring then Mei took over on the back nine to lead the way.

Matt Burgess also had a hold on the minor prizes, collecting the pin shot at 12 and two pro-pins, 5/14 and 9/18. Barry Hughes held the remaining pro-pin at 1/10. Trevor Wren collected the pin at 3 which some thought was close to holing out and Keith Jones collected the final pin shot at 17. For the ladies, Lisa Stuart won two of the three pins, 12 and 17. The birdies nest was not collected.

In the run down, a ball to Alan Kerr, Rod Werner, Kev Rowling, Lyle Bryant, Angelo Maugeri Keith and Helen Jones.

Next Saturday is the August monthly medal and putting competition, another chance for players to qualify for the Medal of Medallists later in the year, Sponor for the day are Scott, Michael and Louise of Stanthorpe Newsagency. Tee off from the earlier tee time of 11.00 am with one tee hit off in operation. The time sheet for the day is on the board at the club.
