In a big weekend of golf and following on from Saturday’s game the Stanthorpe Golf Club hosted another big field of over 90 players in the annual Black Toyota 3 ball Ambrose day on Sunday the 4thof May.

Rob Reeves from Black Toyota has been supporting the Stanthorpe Golf Club for many years with this annual event and his continued sponsorship is very much appreciated. Our visitors from Ballina, Lismore and Indooroopilly Golf Clubs stayed on for Sunday and we also thank them for their support on the weekend. As it was on Saturday it was a pretty ordinary day with strong winds making it pretty cold as well as a few showers occasionally coming across just to dampen everyone’s enthusiasm a bit.

An ambrose competition normally sees some excellent scores coming in and today

was no exception despite the difficult conditions. The young trio of Jason Bacon, Brendon Barker and Matt Macarthur returned an exceptional score of 56.8 nett. These guys have been in excellent form of late and are peaking at the right time as the Club Championships start next weekend.

Coming in second place also with an exceptional score of 57.5 nett was Tod Beckett, Michael Thompson and Deb Joyce.

Third place on 59.7 nett went to Steve Bishop, Ted Bobby and Angelo Maugeri and

4th place went to Chook Hendry, Nathan Stibbard and Lachie Hendry on 59.8 nett.

Pin shots went to Hayden Smith, Simon Shannon and Tom Reeves on holes 3, 12 and 17 respectively.

Approach shots went to Craker (1/10), Ivan Juriss (5/14) and Jason Bacon (9/18). Ladies pin shots were won by Lisa Stuart on 12 and 17 and Lorraine Evans took out both approach shots on 2/11 and 7/16. The men’s long drive was won by Trent Smith while Debbie Reeves took out the ladies long drive.
