Stanthorpe golfers played their end of month fourball last Saturday 26 August, a stableford event. Appreciation to the sponsor of the day, Jamworks Gourmet Foods, courtesy of club member, Christine Hood.

Some impressive scores resulted at the end of the day with a number of teams in contention, none better than Ray Thorn and Terry Roser who compiled 49 points to be winners on the day. After 24 points recorded on the front nine, another 25 points on the back nine for their total. Also on a good score was the team of Danny Folkers and Jason Bacon, only two points adrift but good enough for runner up. Final team scores in the 40 plus area were common with all players on 43 and better being looked at for handicap changes.

Men’s pin shots won by Richard Reardon at 3, Mark Hendry at 12 and Brendon Barker at 17. Ladies’ pins went to Lynette Ludlow at 3 and 12 and Christine Hood at 17. Pro-pins claimed by Brendon Barker at 1/10, Jason Bacon at 5/14 and Alan Kerr at 9/18. No takers for the birdies’ nest at 7. Only one run down, going to Richard Reardon and Lynette Ludlow.

The Hello Yellow Charity golf competition is being played at the time of this report being made, so no news on the results at this stage. However, a good field turned out for the day and hopefully a good total can be raised for the Stanthorpe Cancer Support Group.

Another month has gone by so we are now into the September programme. The first event for the month is an individual stableford, the day being sponsored by 4 Water Supplies. Most members are now aware that a new computer system is being introduced and that on-line booking is now available. Still a few hiccups to overcome but hopefully all will be good in the next few weeks.
