Stanthorpe golfers played an individual stableford event last Saturday and the day belonged to Max Hunter. Not only did Max sponsor the day’s event, he also had the best score of the day returning 40 points for his round. Being the sponsor for the day, Max excused himself from the prize winners list and allowed the next best scores to collect. We thank Max for the prizes on the day and for opting out of the prizes.
Next best score of 37 points was from Rino Piovesan and he collected the winner’s trophy on the day. In runner up position was ever consistent player, Scott Constable on 36 points.
The ladies event was another win for Lisa Stuart who was one point ahead of runner up, Annelle Batterham. The points scored remains confidential as the ladies find the wet course very difficult right now as there is next to no run at all.
Men’s pin shots were awarded to Aaron Simmers at 3, Len Leigh at 12 and Darryl Boekholt at 17. The ladies’ pins went to Marie Cook at 3, Annelle Batterham at 12 and Kay Webb at 17. Pro-pins won by Barry Jones at 5.14 and Keith Jones at 9/18. The birdies nest was again unclaimed.
Next Saturday is the end of month medley 4BBB stableford. Sponsor for the day is 4 Water Supplies. The day will begin with a shot gun start at 12.00 noon with registration at least 20 mins earlier to give the starter time to allocate tees. Already quite a few names on the time sheet.
Ladies ‘Come and Try’ days.
The ladies match committee are proposing come and try days at the Stanthorpe Golf Club for any ladies and girls who might like to try their hand at the game of golf during August and September.
Starting at 1.00 pm. on Sunday 15 August, then the following two Sundays, the 22nd and the 5th September, any interested lady/girl, mother/daughter is invited to participate.
On offer is basic golf instruction, playing a few holes and playing in an ambrose event, along with a suasage sizzle for a fun afternoon.
