Stanthorpe golf

A good field turned out for a stableford competition last Saturday with sponsorship provided by club members, Tom and Trish Fittock and we thank them for the day’s event. Along with the local players, three visitors included on the day, Brett Holdway from Cypress Lakes, Joshua Holdway from Southport and Graham Spence from Pacific.

The men’s event again was a close finish with the countback awarding first prize to club president, Stephen Kay with 37 points. Also on 37 points were Keith Jones for runner up and visitor, Brett Holdway who settled for the first run down prize.

Others in the run down were Rob Reeves, Brady Morant and Mark Hendry, all recording 36 points.

The ladies’ event was won by Sandra Ellis with 39 points. Sandra’s short game around the greens and her putting were much better on the day, something she said she had been finding difficult since returning. Linda Kelly has been scoring consistently of late and continued with that to return 37 points for runner up.

Neta Thouard (33 points) and Lorraine Evans (31 points) were included in the ladies’ run down.

A change to the format for next week’s event, a medley 4BBB stableford. Also, members are reminded to have their name on the time sheet and to observe the required protocols. Names on the sheet by visiting the clubhouse, phone or e-mail to secure your position.
