A big field of around 60 enthusiastic golfers teed off in the annual Australia Day 2 ball ambrose. Thanks to John Bylicki of Go Vita for his generous sponsorship. The day was fine but extremely hot and I am sure it was not just this writer who was glad the game was 9 holes and not 18. The game is played over 9 holes as this allows players to attend other Australia Day events if they want to. This year the game and annual trophy was won by the father and son team of Michael Thompson and Jaxon Thompson with and excellent score of 30.7. Coming in with a very good 2nd place was David Reeves and Anthony Marino with 31.2. The only pin shot was on the 3rd and it was collected by Gary Kirby with a great shot. Being Australia Day there was of course some very important novelty prizes. The Best Dressed male was Santo Cavallaro looking every inch the aussie shearer (all that was missing were the sheep) and Best Dressed female was Mandy Benussi in her excellent green and gold colours. Best dressed up cart was won by Neta Thouard and Deb Joyce. The best dressed team was the team of Jack Parker, Zali Lawer, Bec Thompson and Jason Lawer who were covered in the Aussies flag. Thanks to everyone for playing and helping to make the day the big success that it was.
