After several cold and windy Saturdays, last weekend provided a pleasant afternoon for golf with players contesting a stroke event. With a warmer day, it was expected that scores might also be better.
Under par scores were returned by both Casey Leotta and Ron Batterham, both recording nett 68 for their rounds. The countback resulted in a win for Casey by the smallest of margins, one shot. Casey's back nine proving the difference in the end. Ron settled for the runner up prize.
The ladies scores also improved from the last few weeks with Lorraine Evans returning nett 72 to win the event. New member, Sandra Morris, is continuing to improve and it won't be long before she is in the winner's circle. Her nett 74 put her in runner up place.
Thanks to member and greenkeeper, Bill Pyne, for sponsoring the day and providing the snacks afterwards. Members also appreciated your words on how well the course is considering how dry it has been.
Men's pin shots were won by Ron Batterham at 3, Casey Leotta at 12 and Keith Allen at 17. No takers for the ladies at 3 but Sandra Morris had best approach at 12 and Linda Kelly at 17. Scott Constable took the pro-pin at 1/10 as well as the birdies nest at 1. Matt Waterworth collected pro-pin at 5/14 and Casey Leotta at 9/18.
In the run down, Lyle Bryant (70), Kev Rowling (70) and Brendan Barker
(71) collected balls for their round and Racheal Hendry (75) featured in the ladies' rundown. Racheal also collected the prize for an eagle recorded at the ninth hole, a par 5 for the ladies. Racheal needed only three strokes to put the ball into the hole.
Next Saturday is the end of month medley 4BBB stableford. Sponsor for the day is Andersens. Good to see a few names already on the time sheet which helps for catering purposes. The event is scheduled for a shot gun start at 11.45 am with registration by 11.25 am to give the starter time to send the field to their starting positions.
