Golfers at Stanthorpe played a stableford event on Saturday 20 January, the day sponsored by Jason Lawer and we thank Jason for the support of the club. Jason also played in the event on the day and we hope he had an enjoyable day on the course. 38 points was a popular score for some time until Darrell Boekholt just beat the pack with 39 points and win the day. Best of the rest was Max Smith getting the better of the crowd on 38 points to take out runner up. Others on 38 points included Mark Richards, Scott Constable, Hamish Adam and Nathan Stibbard.
The ladies event was a win for Filomena Silver having the best score of 35 points. Nikki Waterworth continued her good form to take out runner up on 32 points from Lyn Ludlow who also had 32 points.
Men’s NTPs were won by Mark Richards at 3, Mark McCosker at 12 and Hamish Adam at 17. Pro-pins went to Mark McCosker at 1/10, Scott Constable at 5/14 and Ivan Juriss at 9/18. Ladies pin shots were won by Nikki Waterworth at 12 and Lyn Ludlow at 17. Ladies’ pro-pins were both won by Nikki Waterworth.
Pleasing on the day that a good field turned out for the day, almost got to the 60 mark. Next Saturday is the David Townsend Memorial day and the event is a 4BBB stableford. David was a keen golfer and an avid sports person involved in many sports. He was also responsible for getting mid-week golf competition on the go at Stanthorpe. A good chance for all to stop at the 5/14 tee area and think of David – have a seat in his shack for a few minutes. Tee off time is a shot gun start at 12 noon and the time sheet is available on line.
