It was another monthly medal day for golfers at Stanthorpe last Saturday with the winners qualifying for the Medal of Medallists later in the year. The day was sponsored by club member, Richard Reardon and we thank him for the day. The course had received a fair amount of rain during the week, most were expecting a tough day.
In the men’s division, Nathan Stibbard was back in the winners circle after he returned not only the best nett score of 70 but also the best gross score of the day, 76 off the bat. Runner up went to Keith Jones after he survived a countback with Mark Hendry, both players on nett 72. Mark did receive some consolation as he had the least number of putts for the round, 21 on the day.
The ladies winner was Christine Hood with a score of nett 73 for the round. Runner up was awarded to Lisa Stuart with a nett 77. Lisa also had the low gross score for the ladies, 94 for the round. Best putting award went to Margie Locke who needed only 28 putts for the round.
Men’s pin shots were evenly spread. Matt Waterworth at 3, Matt Burgess at 12 and Nathan Stibbard at 17. Nikki Waterworth collected at 3, Lisa Stuart at 12 and Lyn Ludlow at 17 for the ladies. Matt Waterworth, Greg Fraser and David Reeves each collected for a win at the pro-pins. The birdies nest was unclaimed.
In the men’s run down, a ball to scores of 75 and better and for the ladies, 79 and better.
A single stableford has been programmed for next, sponsored by Go Vita, courtesy of John Bylicki. John has organised some interesting side specials for the day. Sam Eaves, golf pro from Warwick is expected and he will be running a putting and chipping coaching session at the club from 9.00 am. There are a number of players that might find this session very useful. As well, Sam’s mobile pro-shop will be available for members, so if any special gear is needed, give Sam a ring during the week. Also, some giveaways will be on offer for players on the day, but get there in time and don’t miss out.
Afternoon session gets underway at 11.30 am, time sheet for the event is on the board at the club. No doubt, after Sam’s putting and chipping clinic, some good results are expected, particularly from around the greens.
