Stanthorpe golfers played a single stableford on Saturday 18 November, the day sponsored by club members, Kev Rowling and Rod Werner, and we thank them for putting on the prizes for the day’s competition. The course was a bit tough to play after the recent heat during the day and fortunate that enough showers have kept the fairways in fair condition.
In the men’s event, the winner on the day was Richard Reardon who returned a score of 40 ponts for the round. Leading up to this round, Reardon’s scores had been up and down but he put a good round together this time. A very good back nine, needing only 39 strokes, was very beneficial. One point back on 39 points was runner up, Todd Sutherland. He also had a steady round and might expect to see his AGU handicap decrease.
The ladies event was won by Nikki Waterworth with a score of 34 points. Nikki also was very steady on both nines and was two points clear of the runner up, Helen Jones, who returned a score of 32 points.
Pin shots for the men were won by Rod Werner at 3, Richard Reardon at 12 and Matt Waterworth at 17. Pro-pins for the men went to Mark Hendry, ‘A’ div at hole 5 and Kev Rowling in ‘B’ div at hole 9. ‘C’ div not won. Lisa Stuart collected the ladies’ pin at 12 and Lynette Ludlow was successful at 17. The ladies pro-pin at 5 was also won by Lynette Ludlow.
Players are able to access scores and prizes, as well as some other information by checking the on-line results for the competition. This part of the new system is still being refined but we are getting close to where it should be.
A reminder to all members that the club break up is to be held next Saturday, 25 November, commencing at 5.30 pm after play for the day. The men’s Golfer of the Year is sponsored by Rossow Fuel Services and the ladies’ winner sponsored by Gracious Giving, runner up by Neta Thouard.
