Last Saturday’s event was a single stableford sponsored by the Heritage Bank and a rerun of Breast Cancer Research charity day which had been previously postponed due to wet weather. With looming clouds overhead suggesting the possibility of rain, some thought it a good idea to schedule this event more often and have more rainy weather.
Even so, a reasonable field turned out to support the day and a sizeable amount of money was raised and handed over to the Heritage Bank and these funds will be presented to the local cancer support group in Stanthorpe.
The winners of the day were club captain, Richard Reardon with 40 points, for the men and Nikki Waterworth with 33 points for the ladies. Ivan Juriss and Helen Jones were runners up in their divisions.
Pin shots were claimed by Scott Constable at 3, Trevor Ludlow at 12 and Keith Green at 17. Linda Kelly had best approach at 12 and Lyn Ludlow at 17. Matt Waterworth held the pro-pin at 1/10 and Brendan Barker took the remaining pins at 5/14 and 9/18. Scott Constable collected the birdies nest at 7.
In the run down, a ball to scores of 38 and better.
The fixture programme for the year has been printed and copies are available at the club. All members are urged to get a copy which lists out all the events for the coming year.
Next Saturday is the David Townsend memorial day, a medley 4BBB stableford sponsored by the Wednesday RSL golfers. David was a keen sportsman, golf in particular, and he was instrumental in getting a mid-week golf competition started in Stanthorpe. The competition will be at a shot gun start at 11.45 am with players requested to register by 11.20 am to give the starter time to arrange for tee allocations.
