The March monthly medal event held last Saturday attracted a good field of members and included visiting API golfers here in Stanthorpe for the weekend. The day’s competition was sponsored by club member, Alex Vale. Alex could not be with us on the day but we thank him for the trophies.

The men’s event was won by Aaron Simmers with a score of nett 67 for the round. No doubt the handicapper will have a good look at this card. Runner up was Rino Piovesan with nett 70. Best gross score and least number of putts was from Brendon Barker, 76 for the round and 23 putts.

The ladies’ event was won by Trish Fittock with a nett score of 71 and was 4 clear of the field. Runner up was decided after a countback gave the prize to Lorraine Evans from Neta Thouard, both players on nett 75. Neta settled for the run down. Another countback gave best gross score to Nikki Waterworth and best putting was from the ladies winner, Trish Fittock, 29 for the round.

Pin shots went to Matt Waterworth at 3, Aaron Simmers at 12 and Scott Constable at 17. No takers for the ladies at 3 and Nikki Waterworth had best approach at 12 and Sandra Morris at 17. Brendon Barker continued collecting balls for pro-pins 1/10 and 9/18. Matt Waterworth claimed the remaining pro-pin at 5/14.

In the run down, a ball for scores of nett 74 and better for the men and nett 79 and better for the ladies.

Next Saturday is an individual stroke and second round of the Pike Trophy. Sponsors for the day are Stephen and Sandra Kay. Tee off at the usual time of 11.30 am and the time sheet is on the board at the club.
