Last Saturday’s golfing event at Stanthorpe was an individual stroke event for both men and ladies with the day sponsored by Matt and Nikki Waterworth and the club thanks them for providing the trophies on the day. A very pleasant day weather wise indicated that some good scores would be returned.
Andy Burgess played in the morning session and his nett 66 was the target set for the rest to catch. His front nine and back nine were identical, 43 for both. The nearest the rest of the field got was five shots back with nett 71 going to runner up, Keith Jones, after a count back with Mick O’Brien who settled for a run down
The ladies competition saw last Saturday’s winner and runner up again sharing the prizes, this time in the reverse order, Fiona Kelly won the day with nett 76 to Lisa Stuart’s nett 78 for runner up. Lisa had to wait for the count back with Kay Webb who returned the same score. Kay settled for runner up.
Men’s pin shots went to Scott Constable at 3, Ivan Juriss at 12 and Max Hunter at 17. Lisa Stuart blocked out the ladies’ pin shots by taking all three on offer. Pro-pins claimed by Jason Hatton at 1/10, Scott Constable at 5/14 and Todd Sutherland at 9/18. The birdies nest at 13 was shared by Scott Constable and Mick O’Brien.
In the run down, a ball each to Mick O’Brien (71), Rod Werner (72) and Wes Smith (72) for the men and Kay Webb for the ladies. Good to see Kay back on the course after overcoming an injury fo the last couple of weeks.
Next Saturday will be a single stableford sponsored by our local travel agency, Helloworld. Time sheet for the day is on the board at the clubhouse.
