A two person ambrose event was played at Stanthorpe golf on Saturday 11 November, the day sponsored by M & D Auto. Always a popular event, a good field of players turned out for the day. Special thanks to Judy Spiller and Mick Spiller of Auto1 and their suppliers for putting on the day. Each player on the day received a gift pack of some essential items and they were gratefully received. Also a welcome to Victor from M & D Auto who does a lot in getting the day organised.
The team of Brendon Barker and Nigel Eldridge went one better than last year and were the winners on the day. They returned a nett score of 60 after scoring a 66 for the round. A close second was the team of David Reeves and Josh Anderson who were one shot adrift of the winners.
Ken Rossington and Mandy Benussi combined well to take top honours in the mixed team section with Nikki Waterworth and Mick O’Brien a close second to them.
Individual prizes were won by Jarrod Irwin for NTP at 3, Matt Penn for NTP at 12 and Nikki Waterworth for ladies’ NTP at 12. The M & D sponsored hole winners were Megsy Irwin at hole 8 for the men and Lisa Stuart for the ladies at 17.
Long drive event at 9/18 saw some very lengthy drives but the winning drives had to actually land in the fairway and the winners were Scott Constable for the men (a very long drive) and Nikki Waterworth for the ladies.
The last prize on the day was the NAGA and several teams tried very hard to take the honours in this. It was, in the end, a win to Kay Webb and Lorraine Evans who were more than pleased to accept the prize for this section.
As usual, M & D Auto also supplied prizes for a multidraw raffle at the end of the day with plenty of prizes on offer. Quite a few people very happy to win a prize, and several to come and collect more than once. Information was that the raffle was very successful in funds raised.
A great day of golf for all involved and pleasing to hear from the sponsors that the same will be staged next year.
On the club front, members have been invited to the club’s Xmas party on Saturday 25 November following the day’s golf competition which is Delaney Family Golf Day, a 4BBB stableford. A form is at the club to add names of those attending so catering can be arranged. The same evening is the announcement of the male and female golfers of the year, an event which has been running since January. Points are awarded to players for attending competition and for performing well at single events. Men’s Golfer of the Year is sponsored by Rossow Fuel Service (winner and runner up) and ladies’ Golfer of the Year winner sponsored by Gracious Giving and runner up sponsored by Neta Thouard.
Saturday 18 November is a single stableford event sponsored by Kev Rowling and Rod Werner ( and a welcome back to golf to Rod after a recent health issue). Time sheets available on-line.
