What a beautiful day Saturday was for the beautiful game of Golf at the beautiful Stanthorpe Course. A big shout out to Matt and Nikki Waterworth for sponsoring the single stroke competition. Matt and Nikki are stalwarts of the club and who possess a comprehensive knowledge of the game and are greatly appreciated by this Writer on numerous occasions.
Ladies Results: Well done to the ever-smiling Neta Thouard coming in at one under with a net of 71 hotly followed by Sandra Ellis on 72. Pro Pins and Pins to Lynette Ludlow, Lisa Stuart and Nikki Waterworth.
Men’s Results: Congratulations to Lochlan Hendry with a net 68 on a countback from Ray Thorn. The run-down scores bear testimony to a keenly contested day with only a few shots separating the first seven places. Pro Pins and Pins to Alan Kerr, Hamish Adam, Richard Reardon, Terry Roser, Alan Walker and Jason Ward.
There were a few players missing on Saturday. The President (Len Leigh), the Captain (Brad Silver) and the Secretary (Greg Fraser) who were off at the Oakey Golf Club contesting the Darling Down’s Golf Association Committee Members Golf Challenge. Attached is a happy snap of the Three Amigos travelling to Oakey BEFORE they played. The AFTER snap was not so happy. Depressing in fact. It was really good to be there and to represent the club and meet other committee members. We actually finished about the middle of the field. However the greens were like concrete, the fairway grass was dry and thin. This reminds us all of how fortunate we are to have water and a great Green Keeper, Bill Payne. Under Bill’s management we enjoy some of the best greens and fairways in Queensland. We are very proud of Bill. Finally, a big welcome to Brendon McMillan who is now employed part time and learning the trade from Bill.
