It was a bright and sunny winter’s day, and all was going well until Grant Howard’s washing machine wouldn’t work – No problem, he went out and bought a new one. But it didn’t work. No problem, he thinks he’ll play golf instead. Halfway to the golf course he remembers that he’d forgotten his golf clubs. No problem. A quick trip home and finally he is ready to tee off. And then his day finally flipped and Grant played a scorcher. Grant played 69 off the stick for a nett of 64 and picking up an eagle on the way.

The Day’s Play was a Stroke game and sponsored by Gary Kirby of Andersen’s Carpets. Gary was very generous in his prizes and is a much-appreciated member of the Golf Club. Thank you, Gary and Andersen’s Carpets. The winner of the first game in the month, called the Monthly Medal also went to Grant Howard and the free pint of their favourite nectar is sponsored by Todd Beckett of Beckett’s Pest Control (Todd’s Tanker). Thank you, Todd.

Runner Up was Ron Batterham. Ron was an early starter and had to find his way through the morning mist and fog but somehow found the fairways and the greens for a very tidy nett of 69.

Men’s Pin Shots went to Scott Constable (x2), Barry Jones (x2), Grant Howard and Phil Mihulka. The putting was won by Matt Waterworth, just 22 putts in 18 holes.

The Ladies Competition: Congratulations to Helen Jones, with Lorraine Evans and Nikki Waterworth in hot pursuit. Pin Shots went to Lorraine Evans, Helen Jones, Neta Thouard and Nikki Waterworth. The putting was won by Nikki Waterworth. Again, there were generous prizes from Andersen’s Carpets and Todd’s Tanker (pint of pure nectar for the winner of the monthly medal – Helen Jones).

Next Saturday Keith and Helen Jones will be sponsoring the day, and players will be scoring Stableford points.
