On Saturday the 28th of March a strong field of 57 members played for the third and final round of the Pike Trophy and the Nuffield Cup. The single stroke event was generously sponsored by Mark McCosker, and we thank Mark for his sponsorship. Mark gave an interesting outline of the origin of the Nuffield Cup and how his grandfather used to sell Nuffield tractors back in the 60’s. The course is drying out again and there is plenty of run out on the course which helped to produce some excellent scores.

The men’s winner of the Nuffield Cup with an amazing score of 64 nett was Raymond Adams. Ray reckons he hasn’t been playing much of late, but he certainly made the most of it yesterday with an excellent par round of 72 off the stick which included 5 birdies. Runner up on the day was Barry Hughes with a very good 67 nett. Men’s pin shots went to Alan Kerr on 3, Grant Howard on 12 and Brad Silver on 17. Great approaches were won by Brendon Barker (1/10 and 9/18) and Lachlan Hendry (5/14). This was also the third round of the Pike Trophy with the best 2 of the 3 rounds contributing to the total score for the Trophy. The winner of the Pike Trophy with 2 good rounds of 70 nett and 67 nett for a total of 137 nett was Barry Hughes. Congratulations Barry.

Ladies’ winner for the day and winner of the Nuffield Cup was Helen Jones with a great score of nett 71. Runner up with a nett 73 was Lisa Stuart. Pin shots went to Lisa Stuart on 3 and 12. Approach shots went to Lorraine Evans (2/11) and Linda Kelly (7/16). The winner of the Ladies Pike trophy with a total 2 round score of 143 was Nikki Waterworth. Congratulations Nikki.
