Congratulations to the 4BBB golf competition Winners; Eddy Fry and Mark Richards with a very healthy 48 Stableford points and the runners up on 45 points were Trish Fittock and John Green. The day was double sponsored by Australian Vinegar and three of the local members, Mike McAuliffe, Keith Barnett and Greg Fraser. Pin Shots to Trish Fittock (x2) Riley Surch, Chook Hendry, Steve Kay (x2), Mike Middleton and Dave Reeves. Next Saturday 3 January will be sponsored by Ian Pickering, as well as the Foundation Cup and Monthly Medal. The game will be a stroke event.
What a day for the Hogmanay Howlers (McAullife, McBarnett and McFraser) as there was a beautiful cool highland (pronounced ‘heeelund’) breeze. Hogmanay, as blog readers will recall, are the festivities of the Scottish new year. It was great to see tartan being worn on the course and draped on buggies. And well done to all who participated in the fun of a 4 Ball Best Ball. However, the fun multiplied when the sponsorship of Australian Vinegar (proprietor being one of the clubs' valued members, Ian Henderson) was added to the prize giving. The run-down players and the pin shot winners all got some of the best finishing vinegar that is on the market. These boutique vinegars are sold the world over being and are a credit to Ian and the pride of the Granite Belt. But the day got even better for we had a very special visitor, Hannah Reeves. Hannah is a local lass (Scottish term!) who grew up on the Granite Belt (as a wee bairn) and learned golf at the club and has now become a Professional Golfer. At the prize presentation Hannah was interviewed about becoming a professional. Her answer: ‘hard work.’ Hannah will be playing professional golf in Australia for the next few months before heading overseas for the northern hemisphere summer. We wish Hannah all the best and look forward to following her progress.
