Saturday the 19th of October was sponsored by Stanthorpe Quality Meats.

The prizes for winner and runner up were beautiful meat trays and we are

very grateful for Stanthorpe Quality Meats and we encourage our members

and readers to support this local business. This Writer, however, is a

little nervous about penning this column for fear that he might

‘butcher’ it.

The Writer played with a group of four others and while he regretably

‘chopped’ at his own putting, witnessed Brendon Barker as a ‘rampaging

bull’ driving the ball out of sight.  Jason Bacon went ‘the full hog’

and also drove the ball beautifully.   Next in our meat basket was Jason

Lawer.  Jason is recording his score cards to get a Golf Australia

handicap.  Jason’s game could be characterised as ‘low fat, premium cut’

for the most part but on occasion was a little ‘ham-fisted’.  We were

delighted to play with the new Bull Calf to the club Jack Parker also

recording his score card for a handicap.

Also, today was the final of the match play competition and was between

Barry Hughes and Hamish Adam.  Well done to both for getting into the

top two positions and the first out of the meat grinder was Hamish

Adam.  Congratulations.

Heifers.  Lisa Stuart first followed by Lorraine Evans.  Well done

ladies.  Run downs to Nikki Waterworth and Neta Thouard.  Pin shots to

Lorraine, Lisa and Nikki.

Bulls.  Zac Hendry and Tod Beckett were the ‘prime cuts’ for the day.

The sausage machine run down went to Matt Burgess, Brendon Barker,

Darrell Boekholt, Wesley Smith, Eric Ree and Santo Cavallaro.  The ‘lean

cut’ Pin Shots went to David Burgess, Brendon Barker, Zac Hendry, Lyle

Bryant and Greg Fraser.

Many thanks to all the golfers who made the day such a success. One

could even say that it was a ‘meat and greet’ success.  Next Saturday is

the famous Stanthorpe Open.

The Member's draw has jackpotted to $90 next week.
