Golf Report Saturday 16 November 2024
The Granite Belt is blessed by the presence of important people. Farmers are important – or we don’t eat. Truck Drivers are important too. Everything that leaves the Granite Belt or comes into the Granite belt comes on the back of a truck. And Farmers and Truck Drivers are important to the Stanthorpe Golf Club because Farmer, Rod Werner and Truck Driver, Kev Rowling sponsored Saturday’s Golf Competition. They are great supporters of the Club, and we appreciate it. I would ‘like’ to say that they are great golfers too … pity.
Ladies Results. There was a good field of ladies and congratulations to the winner, Mei Bell and just a shot behind was Neta Thouard with rundown to Nikki Waterworth. Pins to Helen Jones, Lynette Ludlow and Nikki Waterworth.
Men’s Results. On a count back Ivan Juris was the winner over Matt Waterworth. Run downs to Geoff Davenport, Randall Burgin, Scott Constable and Mark Hendry. Approach Shots to Hamish Adam, Luke Reardon and Scott Constable. With pins to Rhys Farrell, Nathan Reardon David Burgess.
To add a little colour to the day, Richard Reardon had his sons present including Luke who is the caddy for Jason Day. Luke and Jason are based in the USA but are here for the Australian PGA Championship this coming weekend. Colour was added to the Writers Day by watching Matt Waterworth play a round square with the card. Colour faded however watching Len Leigh (our beloved President) almost drain a 40-foot putt which rolled around the edge of the hole and stopped six inches away – he missed the next putt. Congratulations also to Hamish Adam who graduated from High School, and we wish him all the best in 2025.
Finally, next week is a 4BBB Mixed Competition sponsored by the Pearce Family AND a Men’s 4BBB sponsored by Steve Favero of Favero Motors.
The Member's Draw has also jackpotted and is now $130. You must be in the club to win if your name is called out.
