A day to remember, for some. And a day to forget, for others. Let’s start with a Day to Remember. The Stableford game was sponsored by two of the favourite people at the Golf Club, Keith and Helen Jones. Keith is the one person who can truly sing the song; Me and Mrs Jones – got a thing goin’ on.’ They are a delight and a great benefit to the Club. Thank you, Keith and Helen.

Well, it was a day to remember for Filomena Silver taking the winners podium with 35 Stableford points. Runners Up were Mandy Benussi, Lorraine Evans and Helen Jones. Pin shots and nearest the pin went to Lorraine Evans (x2), Linda Kelly, and Mandy Benussi.

And it was a day to remember for the Men Golfers. On top of the podium was the ‘Rollicking Rowling’ – Kev Rowling. The ‘Rollicking Rowling’ put in an absolutely sensational score of 43 Stableford points. The silver medallist went to Ian Handerson with 41 Stableford points. This is still an exceptional score. Run Downs went to Ivan Juriss, Mark Richards, Harry ‘Houdini’ Day and Phil Mihulka. Pin Shots and nearest the pin went to Brendon Barker, Casey Leotta, Nathan Stibbard, Harry Day, Rod Paye and Scott Constable. Congratulations to all, indeed it was a day to remember.

However, unfortunately, and with great regret and deep sorrow, it was a day to forget for one ‘Hapless Hacker.’ He couldn’t have done worse if he tried. To the amusement of many the ‘Hapless Hacker who came last by far, and to whom Keith Jones awarded a prize was … was … ‘me’ … Greg Fraser. One of the great things about Golf is that everyone has a turn at humiliation and today was my turn. And I’m now the dubious owner of the last place prize - four pair of socks. Well, there is always next week and that will be the much-coveted Finch Cup sponsored by Michael O’Brien.
