Golfers at Stanthorpe played a stableford event on Saturday 9 September, the day sponsored by Neta Thouard and Laraine Gurnett and we thank them for the trophies on the day.

Close results in the men’s event with a tie on 37 points, the count back giving the nod to Kev Rowling. Unlucky for Megsy Irwin who had to settle for the runner up prize. Both players had steady rounds on both nines but the winner had a slightly better back nine.

Lorraine Evans was the winner of the ladies event finishing with 35 points. Lorraine is very direct on the fairways and gets into very little trouble. Added to this, she appraoches the greens quite accurately and has a positive puttng stroke. Runner up went to Lynette Ludlow, after a count back, with a score of 33 points.

Pin shots had a varied result on the day, the men sharing the prizes with Ivan Juriss claiming at 3, Scott Constable at 12 and Steve Kay at 17. Opposite for the ladies with Lisa Stuart claiming all three, none for the rest. Pro-pins on the day won by Scott Constable at 1/10 and 9/18 and Richard Reardon collecting at 5/14. Birdies nest was unclaimed, again.

In the run down, a voucher each to Rod Werner, Brendon Barker, Viv Thouard, Barry Jones and Ian Henderson.

A report of a possible road rage incident on the course during the play of the competition, with one cart operator being unable to steer away from another cart, causing a minor bump. Maybe the cart paths aren’t wide enough or driving lines need to be painted around the course to keep carts separated. It is believed that the errant cart driver is a much better driver of the ball than of a cart.

Next Saturday is the Newly Family Memorial Day, an individual stroke event sponsored by the Newley family. The time sheet is posted on-line for those who have mastered the login procedure for the new system.
