A full two days of golf last weekend at Stanthorpe with the club’s mixed foursomes championships being played on Sunday over 27 holes of alternate shot format. The event was partly sponsored by the golf club, and a special thank you to David Gianini for his sponsorship contribution for the event. David is an ex-member of the club but now plays at Tenterfield, unfortunately he has not been able to travel to his home course due to restrictions but the club is more than pleased to welcome David back to the course.
The 2021 mixed foursomes champions are David Reeves and Racheal Hendry who had the best score of 127 for the round. Close behind on 131 was the team of Nikki and Matt Waterworth.
Best nett score was returned by Richard Reardon and Lynette Ludlow with Linda Kelly and Aaron Simmers being nett runners up.
Congratulations are in order to the winners of the day and to all teams and players who participated in the event. Thanks also to Trevor for his input on the day.
Saturday’s competition was an individual stableford sponsored by Wilshire & Co, thanks to Todd Wilshire. Very close scores in the end with the men’s winner on 38 points being Keith Allen. Keith was on crutches not so long ago so good to see him fit and well and firing. Keith’s front nine was average with 16 points on the card before a very good back nine of 22 points for his total. One shot back and on a countback was Travis Burton who just nudged out Darryl Boekholt on the same score into the run down.
Kay Webb produced one her better rounds to win the ladies event, also with 38 points. Nikki Waterworth again had a steady round to claim runner up with 34 points.
Pin shots went to Kev Rowling at 3, Scott Constable at 12 and Matt Waterworth at 17. Helen Jones held the ladies’ pin at 12 and Nikki Waterworth at 17. Pro-pins were won by David Gianini at 1/10, Ivan Juriss at 5/14 and Keith Barnett put his second shot in close at 9/18.
In the run downs, a ball to Kev Rowling, Richard Reardon, Santo Cavallaro and Linda Kelly.
The time sheet for the Open day is almost full with only a few spaces left. Players should get in quick for a preferred tee time.
Next Saturday is an individual stableford and our sponsor for the day is Dep’s Beautiful Nails. Time sheet for the day’s event can be found on the board at the club. Tee off again at the summer start time of 11.30 am.
