Keith Barnett benefitted from an early morning start in last Saturday’s M & D Auto golf day by recording 40 points and claiming the win in the stableford event. The afternoon players found conditions very difficult after a morning breeze ended up as gusty wind later in the day. Next best score was from Ben Griffith from Warwick GC with 38 points to secure runner up.
The ladies event was won by Lyn Ludlow with a good score of 37 points which was seven points clear from the rest of the field. Next best was from Helen Jones who secured runner up.
Trevor Ludlow collected the M & D pin shot at 17 and other pin shots went to Matt Burgess at 3, Travis Burton at 12 and Annelle Batterham for the ladies approach at 12. Pro-pins were won by Matt Tate (Warwick GC) at 1/10 and 5/14 with John Spiller collecting 9/18.
Long drives sponsored by M & D were won by Matt Tate for the men and Kay Webb for the ladies. Birdies nest at 15 was shared between John Spiller and Hayden Smith.
In the run down, a ball to Rod Werner, Mick O’Brien, Darryl Boekholt and Greg Fraser, all with 36 points, and Shaneen McLellan (26 pts) for the ladies.
The club thanks Mick and Judy from M & D Auto for sponsoring the day and the prizes for the raffle at the end of the day. Also thanks to John Spiller for travelling such a long distance to play on the day.
With plenty of golf to play leading into the Xmas period, players should keep their attention on the programme. The Boxing Day classic time sheet is out and intending players should get names in ASAP so as not to be disappointed.
The club is hosting a Vets mixed 4BBB on Monday 18 Nov and the time sheet for this event is on the notice board.
Next Saturday is the Peirce Trophy, a mixed 4BBB stableford sponsored by Bob Peirce and family. There are a number of ladies who have indicated they will play but do require a playing partner. Hopefully the men will not be shy and will oblige. Tee off from 11.30 am.
