A late change to the golf programme for last Saturday, due to the still wet conditions on the course, meant that the single stableford event sponsored by Go Vita of Stanthorpe was put on hold for a future date when general course conditions might be better. A single stableford event was still held and appreciation to Michael Lane who stepped in to provide the trophies for the day.
The men’s event saw the resurgence of Lyle Bryant putting himself into the winning spot with 38 points. His two nine were evenly scored, 19 points outward and 19 points for the return trip. His score was helped with a very good birdie at the 14th hole which put four points on the card. Runner up was Keith Jones, the second week in a row, with 37 points.
The ladies event was won by Lisa Stuart, once more in the winner’s circle, with 36 points. Lisa’s front nine was steady at least, but a surge in the back nine for 20 points secured the win. Runner up was Kay Webb with 29 points.
Pin shots were claimed by Mark Hendry at 3 and Scott Constable at 12. Scott’s tee shot must have looked good at the time, the ball finishing very close to the hole, perhaps looking at a hole in one, but not quite. Lisa Stuart picked up both approaches for the ladies at 12 and 17. Pro-pins went to Stephen Kay at 1/10, Keith Jones at 5/14 and Ivan Juriss at 9/18. The birdies nest at the 2nd was unclaimed.
The run down went to scores of 33 points and better.
An upcoming event is the long weekend at the end of the month. Saturday 30 April is a best ball stableford sponsored by Biz and Jeff Ihle and the club is looking forward to greeting them and other players on their yearly visit from Kilcoy. Sunday 1 May is a 3 person ambrose event sponsored by Black Toyota of Warwick. The time sheets for both events should be available at the club.
Next Saturday is an individual stableford event sponsored by Simon Shannon. Being Easter Saturday, might be plenty of Easter Eggs available. Time sheet for the day is on the board at the club.
