Last Saturday in oppressive conditions 38 hardy golfers competed for the last Monthly Medal of 2019.

Despite all the hot, dry and windy weather in recent months the Club’s greenkeeper Bill Pyne keeps producing the course particularly the putting greens in excellent condition and thus some good scoring was provided.

It was a crowded leader board with many golfers having a nett score below the course par and 3 players Travis Burton, Mat Burgess and Brendan Barker had 69. On the count back Travis was the Monthly Medal winner from Mat. Brendan finished with the best gross score of 75.

The handicapper has looked closely at their scores and can report each of the 3 has reduced a shot.

Conditions weren’t so easy for the ladies but Club Champion Rachel Hendry handled them the best being the victor with a nett 78. Rachel also won the best gross. Runner up was Trish Fittock.

The least number of putts for the men was Angelo Maugeri and for the ladies it was shared by Rachel and Helen Jones.

Trevor Ludlow collected the pin shot on the 3rd and for the ladies Kay Webb won the approach on 12 and Rachel Hendry on 17.

Pro pin winners were, 1/10 Ian Pickering, 5/14 Ivan Juriss and 9/18 Mark Hendry.

After golf members and their families partied well into the night for the annual Xmas party which was an excellent social occasion.

Highlight of the night was the announcement of the male and female golfers of the year.

For the men Scott Constable was victorious for the second year running and the ladies winner was this year’s Veteran Champion Lynette Ludlow.

Runner up for the men was tied between Aaron Simmers and Richard Reardon and for the ladies it was Kay Webb.

Congratulations to all the winners.

Next Saturday is a single stableford sponsored by the Stanthorpe Community Bank.
