Stanthorpe golfers played the February monthly medal and putting competition last Saturday, the event being sponsored by Dixon Homes. The club thanks Wes Smith for putting on the prizes for the day and presenting the winners with their trophies.

Scott Constable had the best gross score and the best nett score to win the men’s event. He returned a card of 71 strokes for the round, one under par for the course. His ‘1’ handicap resulted in nett 70, the lowest by one stroke to claim the win and return to the winner’s post.

Peter Gibney had a good round which resulted in nett 71 to claim runner up on the day. Looking at Peter’s card, fairly steady on both nines except a couple of par 5’s which gave him some trouble.

Putting honours went to Matt Burgess needing only 23 putts for the round. The run down went to nett 73 and a ball each to Max Smith, Mick O’Brien, Matt Waterworth, Wes Smith and Alan Accurate.

The ladies’ event was won by Annelle Batterham with a score of nett 74. Annelle hasn’t been in very good form of late, so it was good to see the turn around. Obviously, the advice she received from ‘Ron’s coaching clinic’ was very helpful in achieving the win. Runner up went to Kay Webb with nett 75. Kay also had the least number of putts for the ladies, 27 for the round.

Best ladies’ gross score was from Nikki Waterworth with 96 off the stick. The ladies’ run down went to nett 77 and a ball each to Lisa Stuart, Helen Jones and Margie Locke.

An upcoming event on Sunday 21 of this month is the Glen Aplin State School 2 ball ambrose. The event is open and an invitation to all to come and play. The day begins at 9.30 am with a shot gun start. A nomination sheet is posted at the club, or contact the school for information.

Next Saturday is an individual stroke event which is being sponsored by Matt and Nikki Waterworth. Tee off from 11.30 am and the time sheet for this event is also on the board.
