The final chance of the year for players to qualify for the Medal of Medallists next month was played at Stanthorpe last Saturday in the monthly medal and putting competition. The day was sponsored by club members, Rino Piovesan and Ian Harvey and we thank them for the day.

The men’s medal winner for October was Keith Jones who had one of his best rounds at the course. His front nine started with a birdie 3 at the first hole and he didn’t look back after that. Out in 39 and back with the same score for 78 off the stick and a nett 66 for a decisive win. Eric Ree claimed the runner up prize with nett 68, a score that might have won the medal in previous months.

The ladies’ medal went to Margie Locke who also had a good round after returning nett 69. Lisa Stuart was five shots further back on nett 74 to claim the runner up after a countback with Marie Cook. Marie did have the best gross score for the ladies, 88, and shared the putting honours with Margie Locke, 28 for the round.

The men’s winner, Keith Jones also had the best putting score, 25 for the day. Scott Constable nearly cleaned up the rest of the prizes for the men on the day, claiming men’s best gross score of 72, pin shots at 12 and 17, pro-pins at 5/14 and 9/18 and a share of the run down. Not much left but Bruce Green collected the pin at 3 and a run down and Keith Jones held the pro-pin at 1/10.

Both men’s and ladies’ winners of the day will compete in the play off for the Medal of Medallists to be held on the November monthly medal day. All medal winners for the last 12 months qualify for the play off.
