Stanthorpe golfers were greeted with pleasant weather conditions for their competition last Saturday afternoon, the sun was out, the fairways are drying out and a warm winter’s day was on offer. Looked like some players were more intent on enjoying the day rather than their golf after viewing some of the scores returned.

This was not the case for Mark Hendry who is in very good form of late, after leading the field last week continued the run with the best score in the event with a 74 off the stick and nett 67 to be a clear winner. Next best was Darryl Boekholt with nett 70 for runner up.

The ladies’ event was won by Nikki Waterworth with a nett 69 which also a below par score. Runner up went to visitor, Erica Vedalago with a nett 72.

Appreciation to our sponsor for the day, Peter Patti Painting, for putting on the prizes for the day and presenting the winners at the close of day. Peter informed all that he intends to be seen on the course more frequently in the future.

Mark Hendry also managed to collect the pin shot at 3 and a well directed second shot at 9/18 to win the pro-pin. Keith Jones collected at 12 and Todd Sutherland held the pin at 17. Nikki Waterworth collected one pin for the ladies at 12. Other pro-pins went to Richard Reardon at 1/10 and to Allen Kerr at 5/14. No takers for the birdies nest at 4.

For the run down, a ball to Ivan Juriss, Bruce Green and Margie Locke.

Next week’s event is an individual stableford and the day is to be sponsored by Reece Plumbing. The time sheet is on the board at the club.
