Stanthorpe golfers played in a medley 4BBB stableford event last Saturday, the usual format for the end of month match. The event was sponsored by another long term supporter of golf, 4 Water Supplies, and the club thanks them for the day.

Cold conditions and the possibility of rain made the going rather tough for a lot, not so for the winners, Sandra Ellis and Peter Gibney, who returned a score of 48 points. The pair combined well, recording minimum 2 points on each hole and several 4 pointers for good effect. Their consistency made the difference in the end result.

Runner up went to the tem of Scott Constable and Andrew Burgess with a combined score of 43 points. As with the winners, this pair also combined well with consistent scoring through the round. Only one hole of 4 points which made the difference.

In the run down, Max Hunter and Greg Fraser returned a card of 43 points and Barry Hughes and Kay Webb with 42 points rounded out the list of prize winners.

Next weekend is the start of the club championships which will be played over four rounds, Saturday and Sunday of the next two weekends. There will be divisions for all handicap allowances as well as a gross event for the individual champions and a net event for all to continue playing.

The first round will be self nominated tee times, players can play with their own arranged fours. The following rounds will be seeded and the draw will be done after play for the previous round. Saturday events are scheduled to start at 10.30 am and Sunday events from 9.30 am following the Sporter’s competition. Ongoing players should check the draw sheet after it has been done. Good luck to all players.
