With ANZAC Day being celebrated last weekend, Stanthorpe golfers were fortunate to have their medley 4BBB stableford sponsored by the RSL Sub Branch and the club thanks them for again sponsoring this golf day. Appreciation to Martin Corbett for representing the Sub Branch and presenting the winners with the prizes.
With the course slowly drying out, it seems that the scores are getting better. An early score of 42 points was posted and this was the mark set to beat. It was Mark Hendry who teamed with John Slack from Inglewood to return the winning score of 45 points. Both players managed to consistently add to their tally through the round, only one bad hole at the 10th where a one pointer was carded.
Next best came from the team of Santo Cavallaro and Eric Ree who were one point back on 44 for runner up. Again, both players scored evenly for their total. In the run down, Nathan Stibbard was a swing player and matched up with Matt Burgess and then Andrew Burgess, each card with 43 points. Mei Bel and Len Leigh collected the final run down.
Men’s pin shots went to Scott Constable at 3 and Greg Fraser at 12. No one managed to hold the 17th pin. Mei Bell collected two pins for the ladies’, 3 and 17. Lisa Stuart claimed the last pin at 12.
Visitor, Nathan Reardon held the pro-pin at 1/10, Barry Hughes was in close at 5/14 and Scott Constable had the best second shot at 9/18. The birdies nest was again unclaimed.
Next weekend is full of golf with a medley 4BBB stableford on Saturday and a 3 person ambrose on Sunday. Time sheets for both events are available at the club and they are filling quickly, Saturday’s event is sponsored by Biz and Jeff Ihle from Kilcoy and a number of Kilcoy players will be in attendance. Sunday’s ambrose event is sponsored by Black Toyota and again a shot gun start at the earlier time of 9.00 am with registration completed by 8.30 am.
