Max Hunter had a great round of golf last Saturday to win the stroke event on the day with nett 64 returned after 85 off the stick. His back nine of 40 shots, all pars except for slight hiccups on two holes ending in bogies, setting up the win. Runner up was Mark McCosker who returned nett 66 which on the last few weeks of golf could have been a winning score.
Lyn Ludlow returned to the winners circle in the ladies event, returning a score of nett 71 which was well clear of the rest of the field. Two fairly even nines of 45 and 46 for the day. Runner up to Madeline Jarman on nett 76.
Thanks to the sponsor of the day, 4 Water Supplies, for continuing supporting golf at Stanthorpe.
Mark McCosker added to his runner up prize by collecting the balls for the pin shot at 3 and the pro-pin at 1/10. Alan Kerr collected the pin at 12 and Rick Chapman held the pin at 17. Madeline Jarman held the ladies approach at 12 and Lyn Ludlow held the approach at 17. Stephen Kay collected the pro-pin at 5/14 and Kev Rowling at 9/18. The birdies nest at 15 was shared between Casey Leotta and Richard Reardon.
In the run down, a ball to scores of nett 72 and better for the men and nett 81 and better for the ladies. An illustrious group of players, who shall remain nameless, managed to reach the ton mark on the day and between them, have over 700 hits on the day. Pity there are no prizes for this category.
Some bad news for club member, Tom Fittock, who ended up hospitalized after looking for a short cut off a ladder resulted in a broken thumb and a few cracked ribs and a few sore joints. We all wish Tom the best in his recovery and hope to see him back on the course as soon as possible.
Next Saturday is the end of month medley 4BBB stableford. Sponsors for the day are the ladies, Kay Webb, Linda Kelly and Margie Locke. Tee off from the later time of 11.45 am, registration please by 11.25 am to allow the starter to get the field out for a shot gun start.
