Golfers at Stanthorpe played a 4BBB stableford event on Saturday 21 October with mixed teams competing for the honour of adding their names onto the Peirce Trophy. The trophy was and is still sponsored by Bob Peirce and his family and is for a mixed team event. The present trophy dates back to 1994 but the event began several years earlier, unfortunately the first trophy was destroyed from a bushfire through the district. Appreciation to Bob and his family for continuing the event.
This year’s winner was the team of Lisa and David Stuart with an impressive score of 47 points on the day. Both members of the team played well and added evenly to the scorecard for their points.
Runner up was the team of Neta and Viv Thouard who were unlucky to miss on a win after the count back put them in second place.
Other players on the day also played a 4BBB stableford with this event sponsored by Stephen and David of Favero Motors. Again, they are thanked by the club for continuing their sponsorship of this event. The winning team for this event was Ray Thorn and Terry Roser. The scorecard indicates that both players equally contributed to the final score but some reports said that Terry had a particularly good day on the course.
Winners of pin shots for the day included Scott Constable at 3, Hamish Adam at 12 and 17 for the men. Ladies’ pins went to Neta Thouard at 3, Lorraine Evans at 12 and Lisa Stuart at 17. Pro-pins were claimed by Kev Rowling at 1/10, David Burgess at 5/14 and Darrell Boekholt at 9/18.
Next weekend is the Stanthorpe Open Carnival with a 4BBB on Saturday 28 and single events on Sunday 29 October. Men will be playing a stroke and ladies will be stableford. The time sheet is filling quickly and there are a number of visitors booked in. Bookings can be made by members by going online.
