It was 4BBB stableford time at Stanthorpe golf last Saturday with a mixed event played for the Peirce Trophy and men’s only event sponsored by David and Stephen from Favero Motors.
The mixed event for the Peirce family has been in the program now for quite a few years and the club thanks Bob Peirce for again putting on the day. Adding their names to the trophy’s long list of winners are Richard Reardon and Lyn Ludlow who returned the winning score of 43 points on the day. Runner up went to the team of Lisa Stuart and Santo Cavallaro after they survived a three way countback with 40 points.
The members only 4BBB stableford looked to be a close finish until the team of Darryl Boekholt and Mark Hendry returned 44 points to claim the win. Again, a countback was needed to determine runner up which eventually went to Scott Constable and Ivan Juriss with 41 points.
Appreciation of the club to all the sponsors on the day, Bob Peirce for the Peirce trophy and David and Stephen of Favero Motors for the members event.
Pin shots went to Stephen Kay at 3, Darryl Boekholt at 12, Matt Waterworth at 17, Nikki Waterworth at ladies’ 12 and Lisa Stuart at ladies’ 17. Len Leigh had best pro-pin approach at 5/14 and Darryl Boekholt at 9/18. Usually it is the men who claim the pro-pins, but in a change, it was one of the ladies taking the honours at 1/10 with Marie Cook getting in closest for the second shot.
In the run down, a ball to Annelle Batterham and Len Leigh in the mixed and Eric McLellan and Chris Binge in the other.
Next Saturday is a medley 4BBB stableford, the Delaney Family sponsored golf day. The day will begin with a shot gun start at 12.00 noon with registration by 11.30 am. The time sheet is on the board at the club.
