Stanthorpe golfers played an individual stableford event last Saturday, the day sponsored by club members, Marie Cook looking after the men’s event and Nathan Stibbard of GTL Concrete Pumping doing the same for the ladies’ event. The club thanks both sponsors for the day.
The ladies’ stableford was won by one of the sponsors, Marie Cook, with a score of 35 points. A good round from Marie as she has not been getting a lot of golf of late, so good that she has kept her form. Marie was quite happy to receive Nathan’s prize. One point back on 34 was runner up, Nikki Waterworth, after she came out ahead on the count back with Lyn Ludlow also on the same score. Lyn settled for the run down.
Unfortunately, our other sponsor, Nathan, could not claim Marie’s trophy, that honour going to Aaron Simmers after a score of 40 points was returned. The second week in a row he has come out on top and no doubt more shots off the handicap. Again, a count back to find the runner up with the nod going to Terry Roser over Mark Hendry, both with 39 points.
Brent (Meggsy) Irwin is in the process of obtaining his AGU handicap and if the rest of his game is as good as his tee shot at three, he could end up with a short number. He held this pin. Scott Constable collected the pin at 12 and the pro-pins at 1/10 and 9/18. Barry Hughes collected at the 17th and Matt Waterworth held the remaining pro-pin at 5/14. The birdies’ nest was unclaimed.
The run down went to scores of 36 and better.
Two full days of golf next weekend with Sunday being the Hello Yellow three person ambrose fund raiser sponsored by the Stanthorpe Community Bank/Bendigo Bank with raised funds going to support the Stanthorpe Cancer Support Group. Not a lot of names in yet so get teams arranged and nominate at the club. It is a 9.00 am registration for a 9.30 am tee off.
Next Saturday is the end of month medley stableford, sponsor for the day being Jamworks Gourmet Food. There may be some delicious goodies on offer as prizes so get a partner organized and get on the time sheet. Tee off from 12 noon with a shot gun start. Register by 11.30 am.
