Stanthorpe golfers played a stableford event last Saturday and the club was pleased to welcome a new sponsor, Dep’s Beautiful Nails, for providing the prizes for the day. Thanks to Dep for the day and the members were pleased that Dep was able to be present on the day and to participate in the presentation.

The ladies event came down to a countback after both Lorraine Evans and Nikki Waterworth returned scores of 39 points. Lorraine, who has been scoring fairly consistently of late had the better on the back nine, 20 points, to claim the win with Nikki, 19 points, settling for runner up.

The ladies run down resulted in a ball presented to Margie Locke (34), Sandra Ellis (33 and Sandra Morris (33).

The men’s event resulted in a return to form and a win for Mike McAuliffe after he recorded a score of 41 points, a clear winner by a margin of two points. In a recent event, Mike managed to claim the last place prize for the day, so very pleasing to see him scoring well again.

Runner up went to junior golfer, Andrew Burgess, with a score of 39 points. Both Andrew and the winner, Mike, played in the early time slot. The early birds certainly collected the worm.

For the run down, a ball was awarded to Keith Barnett (38), Greg Fraser (37), Richard Reardon (37) and Rod Werner (36).

Next weekend is the club’s Open weekend with Saturday being a 4BBB stableford and Sunday a single event. The 4BBB event will begin via two shot gun starts with an early morning start and a later start at 11.45 am. Sunday’s single event is start by time slot. Players are asked to be aware of their tee times and be registered well in advance of that time.
