Plenty of golf at Stanthorpe last weekend with a single stableford on Saturday and the club’s foursomes championships on Sunday.

There was a smaller crowd for Saturday, the late rain on Friday night ensured the fairways were once again very sloppy. Those who turned out were not deterred in any way and by the end of the afternoon, a nice sunny day appeared but with a good breeze. Best score of the day was from Aaron Simmers who returned 42 points for the round, with Eric Ree in second place with 40 points. Good scores from both players considering the conditions.

Matt Waterworth collected the pin shot at 3 and the pro-pin at 5/14. Richard Reardon held the pin at 12 and Brad Silver played a good tee shot to claim at 17. The pro-pin at 1/10 was won by Matt Burgess. The run down went to Santo Cavallaro and Matt Burgess.

Thanks to lady members, Lorraine Evans and Madeline Jarman for sponsoring the day.

Sunday’s foursomes championshsips also drew a smaller than usual field, also because of the wet conditions. Those who did turn up enjoyed the day, some were plaeased with their golf and others might have done better. The day was sponsored by the club.

The ladies winners were Nikki Waterworth and Lyn Ludlow collecting the A div trophy with 147. The B div winners were Margie Locke and Helen Jones with a score of 161. Nett winners were Racheal Hendry and Mandy Benussi with 120 ¾.

With two grades for the men as well, A grade winners were Mark Hendry and David Reeves with a two shot buffer on the field, their score being 126. B grade winnere were Keith Jones and Richard Reardon with a score of 144. Best nett went to the team of Lyle Bryant and Barry Hughes on 116.

Congratulations to all the winners and to the players in the field on the day.
