Last Saturday’s stableford event at Stanthorpe was a repeat of winners from the previous week. Junior golfer, Leighton Thurston, returned a score of 43 points to win the men’s division to make it two wins in a row and further reduce his AGU handicap. Reportedly, Leighton has been receiving some professional coaching from Sam at Warwick GC and the lessons are paying off.

For the ladies, Neta Thouard continued her winning form of the previous week and collected the prize for the win. Neta’s 33 points came from 17 points on the outward nine and 16 points back for the total. Her score could have been even better except for no-pointer at the 11th hole.

The day’s competition was sponsored by Reece Plumbing and the club thanks them for their continued sponsorship of golf at Stanthorpe.

The rest of the field played out for the minor trophies of the day. In the men’s section, another junior golfer, Andrew Burgess, returned a score of 39 points to secure runner up. Won’t be long before Andrew goes one better and take first place.

In the run down was Wes Smith (38), Tom Fittock (37) and Ian Henderson (36).

In the ladies event, Sandra Morris collected the runner up prize after a countback with Margie Locke when both players returned 32 points. Margie collected the ladies run down prize.

The time sheet for the next Saturday’s golf is at the clubhouse and players are reminded to follow the usual procedure for arranging a game.
