The Apple & Grape 2 person ambrose was played last Saturday and was the final golf event for the festival. Sponsored by Crisp Coaches, the 2 ball ambrose proved popular once again with a capacity field sent out for the event. Thanks to the sponsors for the day and to the ladies for the great work done on the club BBQ.

Brendon Barker was successful on winning the single event a week age and his good form continued for this event when he teamed up with Jamie Carnell and be overall winners with nett 63.5 for the round. Ladies’ only team event gave the win to Lyn Ludlow and Christine Hood with nett 74. Mixed team winners were Mark and Racheal Hendry with nett 67.

Minor prize winners in the run down section were B. Gleeson and C. Reeves, Ian Pickering and M. Ward and Matt Waterworth and Simon Shannon.

Len Leigh had the best in the men’s accuracy drive after he landed his drive on the line, making it very difficult to do better. Trish Fittock had best drive for the ladies, only centimetres from the target.

Pin shots were collected by B. Gleeson at 3, Mark Hendry at 12 and Ian Henderson at 17. Christine Hood and Lyn Ludlow held the ladies approaches at 12 and 17.

Rain during the event was a test for all who played with the clouds opening with around 4 holes to play. Some preferred the safety of the clubhouse as a better option but most teams continued through the downpour.

Another successful Apple & Grape Festival golf sporting event and a good turnout of members and visitors for all the events. Thanks to the Festival organisers and the sponsors for putting on the events for the week.

Back to normal golf programme next Saturday with the March monthly medal and putting competition scheduled. Sponsor for the individual stroke event is club member, Alex Vale. In conjunction is the first of two rounds for the Pike Trophy. Tee off from 11.30 am and the time sheet is on the board.
