Stanthorpe golfers played their end of month medley fourball stableford last Saturday, th event sponsored by 4 Water Supplies and the club is very thankful for their continued sponsorship.

A good field turned out for the day’s competition and included a number of visitors from Beaudesert and Bribie Island.

After three teams returned the best score of 44 points for the day, the count back was in use to find a winner. In the end, down to the last six holes before Chris Binge and Nathan Stibbard took the honours for first place leaving Kev Rowling and Darryl Boekholt to claim runner up prize.

The other team on 44 points, R. Brown and S. Brook (visitors) settled for the run down.

Highlight of the day was Terry Roser’s tee shot at the 12th hole. Hitting a six iron from the tee, his ball landed on the green and on the next bounce disappeared into the hole, a hole in one. Terry didn’t see his ball finish in the hole and went searching for it over the green before he was informed by his fellow players that the ball ended up in the hole. He of course held the pin shot for the men at the 12th hole.

Other pin shots went to Jacob Steele at 3 and Nathan Stibbard at 17. Ladies pins went to Madeline Jarmine at 3, Nikki Waterworth at 12 and Kay Webb at 17. Pro-pins claimed by Mark Hendry, 1/10 and 5/14 and Scott Constable at 9/18. The birdies nest was claimed this week by Ivan Juriss, a three at the par 4 7th hole.

Next Saturday is the August monthly medal and putting competition, another chance to qualify for the Medal of Medallists at the end of the year. Sponsoring the day is Stanthorpe News Agency. Time sheet is at the club, tee off from 11.00 am.
