Under strict participation regulations, golfers at Stanthorpe managed to complete the final round for the Pike Trophy. The event was also an individual stroke and was sponsored by club member, Mark McCosker. Play also was for the Nuffield Cup which was, as well, sponsored by Mark.
As players were required to leave on completion of the round, there was not an official presentation and the results of the day were e-mailed later after winners were decided.
With the best two of three rounds to count for the Pike Trophy, best men’s score was from Aaron Simmers with a final score of 139. The ladies’ Pike Trophy was won by Trish Fittock with a score of 150. Both winners managed to secure their win by a margin of one shot.
The Nuffield Cup went to the winner of the day’s stroke event and with three players returning nett 72, the countback finally gave Angelo Maugeri the win. Junior golfer, Matt Burgess, was awarded runner up prize.
The ladies’ stroke event also needed a countback which gave the win to Nikki Waterworth with Shaneen McLellan taking runner up. Both players returned nett 73.
Golfers who played on the day were requested to observe a number of health safety issues put in place by the Committee. It is pleasing to report that these conditions were firmly followed by all participants.
Depending on the advice and directives through the week, there may be another competition event this Saturday played under similar, if not stricter conditions already in place.
If so, play this Saturday will commence at 11.00 am (the earlier Winter time) and players are requested to observe the protocols put in place.
